Alexander Morozevich

Tal Memorial 2012 / Round 6

by National Life Master Loal Davis

Hikaru Nakamura won his game against the tournament leader Alexander Morozevich.  It was beginning to look like no one could take down Morozevich who has been playing some very inspired, albeit risky chess.  He appeared to be doing very well today, but a couple of slips and Nakamura took him down a peg.  Click on the board to step through the annotated game.  This is a tremendous tournament with virtually all players giving it their all – a la Tal.   Tal Memorial 2012 / Round 6

Tal Memorial 2012 / Round 5

by National Life Master Loal Davis

Radjabov started to shuffle his pieces without a plan after the 25th move and was outplayed in the ensuing ending; Carlsen’s first win.   The game of the round was Alexander Morozevich versus  Levon Aronian (number 2 rated in the world).  It was a ruff and tumble affair with the balance of the game (if you can call it that) swinging from side to side.  When the dust settled, Morozevich was on top.  See annotated game.  This guy is fearless.   Tal Memorial 2012 / Round 5
